Literature

Weary and still like an old dusty man, it laid facing the shadows.

I took it out to the light, which seemed to blind it, and opened its cracked pages sullenly.

On its yellow pages, aging spots seemed to mature the language that spoke to me with a heart-warming odor that I greatly missed.

Through its lines, I recalled the moments and the feelings that only I could feel, and then I started recollecting the old secret schemes.

Embarrassed by my stalking eyes, it tried to hide its phrases with blushes, but I suddenly could read the meanings and the nothingness through the leaves.

Heartbroken by my tearful eyes, it tried to hide its sketches with fissures, but I could still watch the words through the silhouettes of my young sights.

I kept reading till the last word and entered a place of infinite calm and serenity.

And like a blue melody that fades at its end, it closed with my aching hands and quietly walked off to its resting end.

CRM and Customer Data (Book)

Customer relationship management (CRM) is that part of an enterprise’s business strategy that enables the entire enterprise to understand, anticipate and manage the needs of any current or potential customer. CRM is not an event or a technology, or even an application or process. Ideally, CRM is a comprehensive strategy that integrates all areas of business that touch the customer - though mainly, it is limited to marketing, sales, customer service and field support - through the integration of people, processes and technology. To be successful, CRM requires acquiring and distributing knowledge about one’s customers across the enterprise, to balance costs, revenue and profits with customer satisfaction. Obviously, business processes and key technologies are required to optimize CRM strategies. The result of implementing CRM, and of effectively managing the many 'touch points' or customer interfaces, is the large volumes of data that are generated. The data can come from the company's face-to-face interactions with the customer, its direct mail, email or call center interactions, mass media, or market research. However, not many organizations have been able to use this data effectively. Therefore, the purpose of this document is to take a view on how today’s organizations handle their customers’ data. It takes us from the very first steps of collecting this data through using it (while introducing necessary changes) till the point of reusing it in order to deliver value to the customer.

Numen Lumen (Book)

Excerpt from NUMEN LUMEN Book:

Sentenced to Life

I look from behind the bars and see walls of time. They end where life stops and start where no time can. I look around and see objects moving in silence and never coming across me. They seem to exist with me, but also without me.

I hear the melodies of the world’s senses and the sounds that touch my prison’s fences. They come from different sources, but they all sound the same and echo the same story of birth and end through my mind.

I smell the colors of life and the scents of music. They all have the same whiff that stings my heart so silently. They all poison my brain with their noisy softness and fill my instincts with their dying odor.

I taste the madness of the world and feel its bitterness. It lingers in my veins and darkens my blood. It suffocates my cells and steals my hopes to a place with no rest.

I touch the bars with my soul and they block my way to eternity. They are bolder than the walls of time and stronger than the will of mankind. They are the fighters against my unbeatable faith and eternal belief.

HRM and Best Practices (Book)

A literature review identifies that Best Practice is context specific, and can be considered as: “A set of practices and processes that when used in different combinations depending on the context, lead to superior results and help the firm work towards meeting its strategy”. This research attempts to identify visible links between observed HRM practices (in four specific areas) and the contemporary view of best practice. The four studied areas of HRM are: Recruitment and Selection, Employee Development, Employee Reward, and Performance Management. The practices of six organisations were reviewed and found to be varied and to meet Best Practice in only certain areas. It was also noticed that Best Practice is a set of systems, which needs to be used in different combinations depending on the context. Key determinants of the context are the role of the HR function in the business, the size of the firm and the management style in terms of employee relations. Best Practice is applicable to all companies. However, it takes different forms, and success is determined by the skills with which it is implemented.

ICT as Change Agent in Higher Education (Book)

The twenty first century presents unique challenges for higher education. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are seen as the major driving force of the future economies of countries around the world. While complexities of the society are enforcing the need for more education, ICTs are increasingly expanding the reach and range of educational institutions by making it possible to access any course from anywhere in the world and at anytime. They offer the possibility of drawing students from many countries who are studying the same course together at the same time. They also serve both, the 'free market' (i.e. those markets where people are able and are prepared to pay the full cost of accessing services) and the 'social market' (i.e. those in need of on-demand education and training and do not have the resources to access or pay for such services, but who for reasons of both social justice and long term national economic development, need basic education, upgrading or retraining).
